Im Zuge des Neubauabschnitts der Nord/Weinviertler Autobahn A5 nördlich von Wien wurde eine Überführungsbrücke als sichtbare Streckenmarke durch den österreichischen Autobahnbetreiber ASFINAG errichtet. Die Gestaltung zielt auf eine Entfaltung der Tragwirkung in der Form ab, um nach außen einen höchstmöglichen Ausdruck der Authentizität und Dynamik zu erreichen. Beim Entwurf sind dabei Erkenntnisse aus der Gestaltpsycholgie eingeflossen, die die Verbildlichung der Vorgänge des Tragens und Lastens als entsprechendes Wahrnehmungserlebnis ausweist. Mit dieser Brücke soll beispielhaft gezeigt werden, dass trotz der immensen Richtlinien- und Normenflut im heutigen zeit- und kostengetriebenen Fließbandingenieurzeitalter Anwendungen möglich sind, die die grundsätzliche statisch-konstruktive Aufgabe mit einer gestaltgebenden Tätigkeit verbindet. In diesem Artikel wird der Prozess von der Idee über den Entwurf bis zur Umsetzung erläutert.

Converting forces into form - a new overpass bridge in the north of Vienna
In course of the new built section Nord/Weinviertler Autobahn A5 north of Vienna a overpass bridge has been erected as a visible landmark by the Austrian highway operator ASFINAG. The design aims for an illustration of the structural behaviour in the outer form in order to achieve the ultimate expression of authenticity and dynamics. In the conceptual design aspects of gestalt psychology are introduced, which aim to display the processes of loading and bearing as an appropriate perceptual experience. With this example it shall be shown, that in spite of the enormous flood of regulations and standards in the current time and cost-driven conveyer-belt engineering age such applications are still possible, which combine structural with shape-giving design tasks. In this article the process will be explained from the basic idea to the conceptual design and the realisation.
