In this study, the structural performance of welded square hollow section joints made of high‐strength steels (S500MH to S890QLH) is investigated. Finite element models (FEMs) were validated using six large‐scale experimental tests, allowing a detailed parametric study on failure mechanisms such as punching shear and chord plastification. The influence of geometric parameters (e.g., chord slenderness, 2‐ratio, and brace angle) and material properties on the ultimate load‐bearing capacity was examined. The results provide insights into the applicability of existing design rules and propose refinements to EN 1993‐1‐8 to enhance safety and efficiency in engineering applications.
