Der Entwurf des neuen Fussballstadions der Stadt Lausanne geht auf einen internationalen Wettbewerb zurück und resultiert aus der interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit zwischen Architekten und Tragwerksplanern. Die Leichtigkeit des weitgespannten Stahldachtragwerks war ein wesentlicher Faktor, der die effiziente und wirtschaftliche Umsetzung des architektonischen Entwurfs ermöglicht hat. Das Dachtragwerk wurde mit wenigen Tragelementen konzipiert. Ihre wiederkehrende Geometrie und klaren Linien stehen im Kontrast zum expressiveren Ausdruck des Gebäudesockels. Das subtile Gleichgewicht des leichten Dachtragwerks wirkt als Gegenpol zu den im architektonischen Ausdruck lesbaren Kräften des Spannbetonsockels. Dank der besonderen Leistungsfähigkeit von Stahl konnte das Dachtragwerk fast ohne provisorische Abstützungen in kurzer Zeit aufgerichtet werden. Die konstruktive Ausbildung widerspiegelt die klaren und einfachen Tragkonzepte der Stahlstruktur. Mit der Realisierung des Dachtragwerks des Stade de la Tuilière konnte die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit von Stahl für die Realisierung weitgespannter Tragwerke erneut unter Beweis gestellt werden. Als Fassade für das neue Stadion wurde eine funktionale gläserne Gebäudehülle konzipiert.

Light and subtly designed - the roof structure of the Stade de la Tuilière in Lausanne
The design of the new football stadium of the city of Lausanne goes back to an international competition and results from the interdisciplinary cooperation between architect and structural engineer. The lightness of the wide-span steel roof structure is the essential factor that enabled the efficient and economical implementation of the architectural design. The roof structure was designed with few load-bearing elements. Its recurring geometry and clean lines contrast with the more expressive building's base. The subtle balance of the light roof structure acts as a counterpoint to the forces of the prestressed concrete base, which are expressed in the architecture. Thanks to the special performance of steel, the roof structure could be erected in a short time without temporary supports. The structural details reflects the clear and simple load-bearing concepts of the steel structure. A functional glass envelope was designed as façade for the new Stade de la Tuilière. With the realization of the roof structure of the Stade de la Tuilière, the competitiveness of steel for the realization of long-span structures was proven once again.
