So when talking about research and development in steel construction, apart from innovative construction products and design concepts, we must not forget fabrication and erection having a big potential for improvements. In particular, production machinery should be improved in terms of intelligence and flexibility. Furthermore, manual tasks on site should be performed in a more reliable manner. Therefore, new developments of automatization and robotics, especially in the area of prefabrication, are being used to a growing degree. Moreover, digitalisation will alter the future of labour substantially. These and further factors require new technical visions of for future building and production.
