Der Einsatz von Korrosionsschutzsystemen, bestehend aus organischen Beschichtungssystemen oder metallischen Überzügen, wird in teils umfangreichen technischen Regelwerken für die Anwendung auf dünnem Blech bis 3 mm Blechdicke bis hin zu massiven Stahlbaukonstruktionen mit Tragsicherheitsnachweis umfassend beschrieben. Nach Bestimmung der vor Ort vorhandenen Korrosivitätskategorie und Festlegung der gewünschten Schutzdauer können geeignete Korrosionsschutzsysteme für ein bestimmtes Objekt aus Tabellen ausgewählt werden. Des Weiteren lassen sich zahlreiche Hinweise zur korrosionsschutzgerechten Konstruktion, zur Oberflächenvorbereitung und -vorbehandlung des Substrates und zu den Verarbeitungsbedingungen des Korrosionsschutzsystems in einschlägigen Regelwerken finden. Ein fachgerechter Korrosionsschutz an Stahlkonstruktionen muss durch Umsetzung der in Regelwerken genannten Qualitätssicherungsmaßnahmen sowohl bei der Planung als auch bei der Ausführung der Korrosionsschutzarbeiten erfolgen.
