For highly insulated clay masonry units, fire resistance is verified in the course of the approval procedure through fire tests according to harmonised European standards. The fire resistance class in the relevant national technical approval is then based on these tests. Classification according to these testing standards in combination with the extrapolation standard DIN EN 15080-12 represents a justifiable option for the fire resistance classification of masonry walls according to harmonised European standards.
In this paper, the extended scopes of application of the extrapolation standard are presented through the example of tests on precision clay masonry.
